Plane With Suspected Problem Lands Safely
From Times Wire Reports
An America West jet with about 120 passengers on board touched down safely at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport after a cockpit warning light appeared to indicate a landing gear problem, a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said.
FAA spokesman Jim Meloon said air traffic controllers reported that America West Flight 344 landed “without incident” despite reports from ground crews of a shredded tire.
The plane left Sky Harbor about 1:30 p.m., bound for Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
