Jason to Yankees? That’s a Bad Omen

Right on schedule, the Yankees start their holiday shopping, going after Jason Giambi.

When is management going to drop the facade and acknowledge that most of major league baseball is nothing more than a farm system for the privileged few? For a bunch of really rich guys, baseball owners certainly are thick when it comes to understanding why all but a handful of teams are drowning in red ink, and the fans are finally taking a cue from Yogi and saying, “Include me out.”

The Dodgers should sign Victor Palomarez (Viewpoint, Nov. 24) for his asking price of $6.75 an hour.

It would be a nice change to have at least one Dodger worth the salary he’s receiving.
