Juice Mix-Up at Nursing Home Kills 1, Injures 5
From Times Wire Reports
A nursing home worker gave 10 elderly residents a liquid used in dishwashers after mistaking it for juice, officials said. One woman died and five others were hospitalized.
Ten women at Lady Astor Court drank the liquid Sunday, said Philip Scott of Southern Cross Healthcare, which runs the home in Slough, west of London.
The dishwashing liquid, which is similar to bleach, was in a bottle like the one that held black currant juice. Six employees have been suspended while police investigate.
