Part of Freeway in Riverside to Get Face Lift

Caltrans crews on Monday will begin a $20-million construction project on a four-mile stretch of the Riverside Freeway in Riverside.

The crews will work between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. and could limit traffic to one lane between 14th and Madison streets. Work will include replacing damaged sections of the roadway, replacing guardrails with a concrete barrier, repaving ramps and installing a closed-circuit television system with fiber optics.

Caltrans suggests that commuters to Orange and Los Angeles counties use an alternate route during the two-year project: the Pomona Freeway west to Interstate 15 and south to the Riverside Freeway.
