Goddesses Still Think Rod Stewart Is Sexy

Share

So there he was in a sea of blonds, the most beautiful blond of all: Rod Stewart. The rock god was upstairs at the Lounge last Thursday, with a gaggle of goddesses. Some guys have all the luck.

Speaking of goddesses, Missy Elliott and Janet Jackson (y’all bow down, now) were cavorting in the club downstairs. I tried to nestle up to America’s homegirl, Janet, to remind her of our plans to go to the black rodeo, when Eriq La Salle’s pal ran me over trying to improve reception on his cell phone. Must have been very important....Bolthouse promoter Jenifer slipped me a historic flier announcing a big birthday bash for Brent Bolthouse. It’s this Saturday at A.D.-the post-fire PlayRoom space-which is officially debuting Friday night with the grand reopening of Cherry. Yum yum.

Couldn’t believe the cluster in front of Tiger Heat on Thursday night at 7969 in WeHo. The gay pop club is madness.... Also at 7969, I hear Lennox Lewis and Busta Rhymes were kickin’ it last Tuesday night during Michelle’s Triple X Revue, the lesbian strip club. Radical. Hollywood’s Lava Lounge celebrates its eighth birthday tonight with its annual gold party. Go just to see its gorgeous owner, Michelle Marini, dazzle the crowd....Caught up with my favorite bullfighter, Vandals bassist Joe Escalante, at last week’s sold-out One Man Army/Flogging Molly doubleheader at the Troubadour. It was Flogging Molly’s triumphant return from the True Believer tour, and frontman Dave King proved he’s pure genius.

For a good laugh, check out Immortal Ent’s comedy rock show at the Roxy tonight. Had a lovely chat with Guns N’ Roses’ bass player, Duff McKagan, who’s in business school in Seattle and super stoked about his new band, Loaded. Thankfully, he’s not.... I’m immersed in scenester scribe Pleasant Gehman’s book, “Escape From Houdini Mountain,” which is both naughty and nice. Perfectly seasonal.
