Betty Blowtorch Singer Killed in Car Crash

Bianca Halstead, the lead singer of the Los Angeles-based rock band Betty Blowtorch, died Saturday while riding in a speeding Corvette that went out of control on Interstate 10 near here.
The 36-year-old singer died about 5:30 a.m., hours after her band finished a show at a downtown music club.
The band has had national exposure, including an appearance in the film “Bubble Boy” last summer.
State police identified the driver of the Corvette as William McAllister, 33, of Burbank, Ill.
