From Times Wire Reports

The French daredevil who impressed the world in 1974 by crossing a high wire strung between the World Trade Center’s twin towers will commemorate the stunt at a benefit for artists hurt by the economic downturn that followed the Sept. 11 attacks.

Organizers of the Jan. 11 fund-raiser said tentative plans are for Philippe Petit to cross a wire strung from a balcony at the Manhattan ballroom where the event will be held.

Proceeds will benefit the New York Arts Recovery Fund, which was created after the attacks to assist struggling artists.
