Msgr. Michael Condon,
Longtime Pastor, Dies
Msgr. Michael Condon, the founding pastor of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Oxnard, has died. He was 86.
Condon, a native of Ireland, came to study in United States seminaries in 1937. In 1959, he was assigned as pastor of the new parish in south Oxnard’s tomato fields, where he ministered to approximately 1,100 families.
He died Wednesday in Los Angeles after a long illness, according to the mortuary handling his funeral arrangements.
Visitation will be held today at St. Anthony’s from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Visitation will be followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Saturday, followed by burial at Santa Clara Cemetery.
