MTA Offers Free Rides for Holidays
Free bus, train and subway rides will be offered on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
The free rides will be offered from 9 p.m. until the transit line closes, about midnight for Metro Rail and about 5 a.m. for buses.
“We want to make sure people have options in riding to and from social gatherings,” said MTA spokesman Gary Wosk.
The MTA is offering free holiday rides for the seventh year. The agency hopes to encourage people to use public transportation rather than driving while intoxicated.
Route and schedule information is available by calling (800) 266-6883. Trips can also be planned online through https://www.mta.net.
