Justice for Drivers Stuck in Car Chases

Share

I was the victim of a crime on Dec. 14. On my way home from work I was forced to park my car on the Santa Ana Freeway for over an hour.

It was shut down after some idiot being chased in a stolen bus came to a stop nearby on the 91 Freeway, which, of course, was also shut down (Dec. 15). The thousands of innocent drivers and passengers who were affected by this crime should all be compensated for their extra time on the freeway when this nut goes to trial. Since no one knows who we are, maybe the court can estimate the number of cars and a reasonable hourly rate and have the thief donate that amount to a worthy charity as part of his sentence.

The number of car chases, and most recently bus, appears to be increasing, and more “ammunition” must be given to law enforcement agencies to stop them a lot sooner! As they stretch out, innocent lives are at stake (several deaths and injuries), traffic is seriously tied up for hours and too many police vehicles and personnel are involved that could be better utilized in more needed ways.

How about shooting out tires or disabling the engines and why, for example, wasn’t tear gas used in the recent bus hijacking after it was stopped?
