New City Hall to Have Rented Private Offices

The $6.2-million building the city is buying for a new city hall is triple the size it needs, so officials say they will rent out 70% as private office space.

“I don’t know of any other city that is doing this,” said Don White, assistant city manager. The city expects that rent collected from tenants will cover the cost of buying the 50,000-square-foot building on El Toro Road near Interstate 5, he said.

The city expects to close the purchase by the end of next month but will not move in for at least two years, White said.
