Share

The spa craze has spawned a super-sized, adults-only resort with more than 100 treatment rooms near the Mexican resort town of Cancun. The owner, Palace Resorts, says that the beachside Spa Palace is the largest spa resort in North America, based on the number of treatment rooms (103) and guest rooms (792). The 6-year-old company runs six other resorts in Mexico, including the 2,031-room Moon Palace Golf Resort in Cancun, but this is its first spa resort, a spokeswoman said.

Guests, who must be 18 or older, can choose from the usual array of facials, manicures and pedicures plus more than a dozen treatments.

Besides treatments, guests can join in yoga, meditation, nutrition and skin care workshops and an array of activities such as kick boxing, aerobics, jogging, weight training and water sports. The resort is about 50 minutes from the Cancun airport and 90 minutes from downtown Cancun. Rates range from about $200 to $400 per person per day, double occupancy, depending on the time of year and the package. The rates include lodging, all meals and beverages (including alcohol), workshops, fitness classes, sports and some treatments. (800) 635-1836, www.palaceresorts.com.
