Bowled Over by Many Games

Share

What do Insight.com, Sylvania, Galleryfurniture.com and Culligan have in common?

College football. As in bowl games. They begin in earnest this week, with 12 games on tap between today and Saturday, all on ESPN or ESPN2 (with the exception of the Blue-Gray All-Star Classic, which is on KABC Channel 7 at 9 a.m. Christmas Day, followed by USC against Utah at 12:30 p.m. in the Las Vegas Bowl).

The Seattle Bowl on Thursday (Stanford versus Georgia Tech) is hosting its inaugural game, after years spent as the Oahu Bowl. And then there’s the Culligan Holiday Bowl (Washington versus Texas), the Sylvania Alamo Bowl (Texas Tech versus Iowa), the Insight.com Bowl (Kansas State versus Syracuse) and the Galleryfurniture.com Bowl (Texas A&M; versus TCU).

And they only begin to scratch the surface, as a total of 24 bowl games will have been played by the time Miami and Nebraska play for the national championship Jan. 3 at the Rose Bowl.
