CHP Officer Shoots 2 After Alleged Threat
A 22-year-old Norwalk man, ordered to stop on suspicion of drunk driving, was shot several times when he allegedly attempted to run down a California Highway Patrol officer late Christmas night in Downey, the CHP said.
Daniel Castillo was listed in serious condition at St. Francis Hospital in Lynwood. A shot grazed the leg of Castillo’s 14-year-old companion, who was caught nearby, said CHP spokeswoman Wendy Moore. The youth was booked at Los Padrinos juvenile facility. Moore said the motorcycle officer, who was not identified, was unhurt.
