Man Crossing Street Is Hit by Car, Dies

SIMI VALLEY — A 72-year-old man is dead after being hit by a car at Alamo Street and Galena Avenue on Thursday afternoon.
Jasper Bernard Woodson of Simi Valley was crossing Galena about 2:30 p.m. when he was hit by a car driven by 62-year-old Arlene Marie Bieker, Simi Valley Police Officer Alan Thompson said.
The cause of the accident is still being investigated, but Thompson said alcohol was not a factor.
Thompson said Bieker was turning left from westbound Alamo onto southbound Galena when her car struck Woodson in the crosswalk.
He suffered major head injuries and was taken to Simi Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 5:40 p.m., authorities said.
