A drive-by shooting in Venice Thursday, the second in as many nights, left a pedestrian dead.
Police said the man, between 30 and 40 years old, was standing on California Avenue just west of Lincoln Boulevard when someone in a passing vehicle killed him about 6:40 p.m.
On Wednesday, a 19-year-old man was shot to death as he drove past Venice High School at Venice Boulevard and Greenwood Avenue about 3:15 p.m., Sgt. Duane Chickering said. Those shots also came from a passing car.
Police said that they don’t know if either shooting involved gangs, but that the incidents didn’t appear related. No one has been arrested in either and neither victim’s name has been released.
