At Duty Free, we found some great deals on many new perfumes. For women, a 3.4-ounce eau de toilette spray of Ungaro’s Fleur de Diva that retails for $70 sells here for $35. Life Essence from Fendi, a fragrance for men, runs $95 retail for a 3.4-ounce spray but is $45 at Duty Free.

More than 3,000 different scents, all of them discounted, can be found in this newly expanded fragrance warehouse.

In Burbank there’s a treasure trove of costume jewelry, watches and handbags for women at about half the original prices at the 1928 Jewelry Outlet. Most of the inventory is their own product, but other manufacturers also are available.

Their Paris Vieux line of silver and blue stones or silver with topaz colored stones is half off, such as $12.50 for a necklace, $12 for earrings and $14.25 for a bracelet that originally sold for $28.50.

Some sterling bracelets with heart charms are $50, half the original $100. Watches by Guess and handbags from Nine West and Liz Claiborne all run 40% to 60% off their original prices.

If candy is your valentine’s weakness, Allen Wertz has a couple of outlet stores where they sell seconds. These are pieces where the decorators zigged when they should have zagged--think Lucy and Ethel on the assembly line. You’ll find them selling for considerably less in the “Oops” department.

For a pound of “Oops” chocolates that regularly sells for $10.99, figure $3.99 in a bag or $4.99 boxed. Should there be any sugar-free chocolates left when you get there, these are $4.99 for a one-pound bag instead of $12.
