Shortstop Jeff Bannon of UC Santa Barbara, a Camarillo High graduate, went four for four with two doubles in the Gauchos’ 23-10 loss to San Jose State on Sunday.

Bannon, a senior, batted .265 with 37 runs batted in and 11 home runs last season.

Bannon started this season five for his first nine (.555) for the Gauchos (1-2).

Oregon State’s three-game series last weekend at Cal State Northridge was a homecoming for infielder Zach Gordon, from Royal High and Moorpark College.

Gordon, who went one for five in three games, batted .222 with 11 home runs and 32 RBIs last season for the Beavers.

A Division II team to watch is Cal State Chico.

Included on the roster are infielders Kevin O’Hara (Valley College) and Mike Anderson (Oxnard College), pitcher David Arroyo (Ventura College), catcher Kurt Probasco (Ventura College) and outfielder Brandon Voorhees (Simi Valley High/Moorpark College).
