Pasadena police have booked a father and son and a third man on suspicion of murder for their alleged roles in a high-speed rolling gun battle on the westbound Foothill Freeway that left one man dead and another wounded.

Jonnas Llamas, 43; Daniel Llamas, 21, and David Rosas, 18, all of Panorama City, were taken into custody early Saturday morning in connection with the shooting Friday afternoon, Pasadena Police Lt. Randell Taylor said.

Homicide detectives are seeking another suspect.

Police identified the dead man Saturday as Raul Diaz, 23, of Panorama City, who suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at Glendale Adventist Medical Center. Two companions took Diaz to the hospital after he was shot, police said.

According to detectives, the victims and those in custody were acquainted, but the motive for the shooting remains unclear. Police said the gun battle was not gang-related.

Taylor said the three men were taken into custody after an investigation led detectives to various locations in Panorama City.

The three are accused of being involved in a car-to-car exchange of gunfire that began near the Duarte-Monrovia border on the Foothill Freeway and ended shortly before 4 p.m. at the Hill Avenue exit in Pasadena.

Another victim was found shot in the torso on Villa Street, a short distance from the exit.

Raymundo Rosas, 26, also of Panorama City, was transported by Pasadena paramedics to Huntington Memorial Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and was in serious condition, officials said.

Police responding to the shooting Friday found a black Ford with several bullet holes in it abandoned on the freeway near the Hill exit. Detectives said they have recovered three other vehicles that they believe were involved in the shooting.

For several hours after the incident, Pasadena police shut down the westbound Foothill Freeway, diverting traffic onto surface streets while they searched for evidence.
