Moorpark College has hired Susie Maxwell Berning and Gary Ault as women’s golf assistants to Coach Will Thurston.
Berning is one of four players to win the U.S. Women’s Open three times. She was the LPGA rookie of the year in 1964 and won 11 tournaments, including four majors.
She is director of instruction at Golden Tee Golf Center on the Moorpark campus.
Berning won the U.S. Women’s Open in 1968, 1972 and 1973. She won the Western Open in 1965, when it was considered a major championship by the LPGA.
Ault, a Class A member of the PGA, is an instructor for Golden Tee.

The softball game between Antelope Valley and Ventura colleges scheduled for today has been rescheduled for 3 p.m. on March 5 at Ventura.
Antelope Valley’s home baseball game against Chaffey that was postponed Tuesday because of snow on the field has been rescheduled for Monday at 1:30 p.m.

Canyons is holding a fund-raising golf tournament on Feb. 26 at Valencia Country Club.
