Buckley Overdoes It, 77-76
Colin Ward-Heninger scored 28 points, including two free throws with 5.3 seconds left in overtime that gave third-seeded Buckley High a 77-76 victory over Montclair Prep in a Division V-AA third-round game Tuesday night at Montclair Prep.
Eric Kaufman scored 21 points for the unseeded Mounties (13-14), including five three-point baskets, but missed a three-point shot at the overtime buzzer.
The game was a rematch of a playoff last year that Buckley won, 70-66.
Robert Lewis had 27 points, and Derek Daniels and Garen Hartunian each added 10 for Montclair Prep, which led, 63-54, with 1:42 left in regulation.
David Gale had 19 points, including five three-point baskets, and also had eight assists for Buckley (24-3). Royal Weaver added 13 points.
Charlie Kranzdorf hit a 10-foot jump shot to give the Mounties a 67-65 lead with six seconds left in regulation, but Steve Broukhim’s layup at the buzzer forced overtime.
