The Night They Love to Hate
Kudos to Leslee Komaiko for her piece (‘The Most Un-Lovely Holiday of the Year,” Feb. 14). Not only can we relate, but we can add a couple hundred stories.
Customers begin calling (for Valentine’s Day reservations) on Jan. 2. Our little place has 16 tables, and because we do a pre-set, one time, you have the whole night. We serve 32 people. We ended up turning away 300 to 400 callers. But even with our small numbers, we had a proposal (she said yes). For restaurateurs, it’s a night we love to hate!
