The Los Angeles Times has sold the Pasadena Weekly, a free community newspaper with a circulation of 35,000, to Ventura Newspaper Inc. Terms of the transaction weren’t disclosed. Ventura Newspaper is the publisher of the weekly Ventura County Reporter. The Times, which is owned by Chicago-based Tribune Co., acquired the Pasadena Weekly through its Times Community News affiliate in 1998. In September, the newspaper closed 14 Our Times community news sections, though Times Planning Vice President Kim McCleary La France said the independent newspapers published by Times Community News will continue publication. They include the Glendale News-Press, Burbank Leader and Costa Mesa/Newport Beach Daily Pilot, among others.
