More Tests Are Ordered on Leclerc’s Right Knee

Share

Left wing Mike Leclerc, the Ducks’ second-leading scorer with 30 points, underwent another round of tests on his injured right knee. An initial set of X-rays and an MRI exam Saturday revealed no damage, but the team medical staff ordered another MRI test Wednesday.

Leclerc was injured in the third period of the Ducks’ 2-2 tie Dec. 28 against the Nashville Predators. He was sidelined for Wednesday’s game against the Florida Panthers.

There was no immediate word from the team on the results of the second MRI exam. Leclerc, 23, has set career bests with 12 goals and 30 points in 40 games this season.

The Ducks were a bit shorthanded at their morning skate.

Defenseman Oleg Tverdovsky, suffering from flu-like symptoms, did not attend the workout. “There’s every reason to believe he’ll play,” Coach Guy Charron predicted.

Tverdovsky played in his 250th consecutive game Wednesday against Florida. Tverdovsky’s streak is the league’s second longest. He trails only Chicago’s Tony Amonte, who has played in 284 consecutive games.

Winger Dan Bylsma also did not participate in the morning skate. He took a slap shot off his foot during a drill in Monday’s practice. Bylsma was in the lineup, however. He has played in all 42 games.

Forward Jonas Ronnqvist, who hasn’t played in more than a month because of a knee injury, has skated lightly the past two days. His return to action remains uncertain, however.
