A 19-year-old Glendale man was arrested Friday for allegedly attempting to seduce a 13-year-old boy over the Internet, authorities said Friday.

Aldo Jimenez faces two felony counts of attempted lewd acts with a child under 14, and one charge of sending harmful matter with intent to seduce a minor, said Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Charles Rodriguez.

Police said a San Fernando Valley mother contacted police in September after discovering a man had expressed his love for her son and sent sexually explicit photos of himself on the Internet. The woman contacted the young man and told him to stop, but police said he continued to message the boy.

LAPD detectives adopted the persona of the boy and continued Internet contact with Jimenez. He sent more explicit photos and asked to meet the boy for sex, Rodriguez said.

Police arrested Jimenez at his Glendale home. He remained at Twin Towers jail Friday in lieu of $50,000 bail. Jimenez faces a state prison sentence and possible lifetime sex-offender registration, police said.
