SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

A Santa Ana Heights couple and their 10-day-old baby were held at gunpoint during a home-invasion robbery Tuesday, authorities said.

Three assailants confronted the man as he was walking to the couple’s apartment in the gated Palm Mesa complex on Mesa Drive at about 2 p.m., Orange County Sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino said. One of the robbers pressed a handgun against the man’s back and forced him into the apartment, bound his hands and demanded money, Amormino said. They threatened to shoot the woman and harm the couple’s baby, he said.

The robbers left after the couple gave them about $1,000, Amormino said. Nobody was injured, he said.
