Altadena Shooting Suspect Eludes Deputies

Sheriff’s deputies stormed an Altadena house Wednesday in an unsuccessful search for a man suspected of an attempted murder in that community earlier in the day.
Police said James Mosley, 32, of Los Angeles is suspected of firing two shots at two people standing outside a home at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday on Rising Hill Road. He then allegedly fled to his mother’s home on Aralia Drive.
During the day deputies evacuated several surrounding homes and blocked the street at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains. More than two dozen sheriff’s patrol cars were stationed at nearby Loma Alta Park.
A SWAT team and several sheriff’s patrol cars surrounded the house about 1:15 p.m. and tried to contact Mosley with a megaphone. Eventually officers tossed eight tear gas canisters into the home. After waiting for darkness, SWAT members entered the house about 5:30 p.m., but Mosley wasn’t there.
