* The World Wide Web’s premier naming authority has selected the former top technical advisor for the University of California system as its new president and chief executive. The Internet Corp. for Assigned Names & Numbers (ICANN) said that its board of directors elected M. Stuart Lynn to succeed Michael Roberts as president and CEO of the Marina del Rey-based organization.

Lynn was associate vice president for information resources and communications for the UC office of the president, where he was chief information officer for the 10-campus, 150,000-student UC system until his retirement in 1999.
