There will be no crying in Argentina (or maybe there will) when the El Capitan plays host to an “Evita” Sing-a-Long. Come dressed as your favorite character and belt out the words to “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” and “You Must Love Me” right along with Madonna, Antonio Banderas and Jonathan Pryce as you watch director Alan Parker’s 1996 Golden Globe-winning adaptation of the Tim Rice-Andrew Lloyd Webber stage hit. Don’t know the words? No problem--they appear on the screen as if it were a giant karaoke machine. Prizes awarded at each performance for best costume.

From Art Nouveau to Art Deco, from product ads to movie memorabilia, the third annual Southern California International Vintage Poster Fair’s “2001: A Poster Odyssey” will have a poster for nearly every collector when it touches down at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium this weekend. Featuring thousands of vintage posters from 35 dealers from around the world, the three-day event will include works documenting everything from world wars to travel destinations as well as “high art” posters by noted artists such as Toulouse-Lautrec.

Famed for her interpretations of Carmen and Dalila, American mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves will make her Orange County Performing Arts Center debut in its “Voices in Song” series. Graves will sing a range of works by Handel, Elgar, Brahms, Falla and African American baritone and songwriter Henry Thacker Burleigh. Warren Jones will be the accompanist.

R.L. Burnside is 73, but don’t look for the Mississippian to settle into blues complacency. The veteran musician is actually one of the genre’s free-thinkers, hitching his roots sound to electronica and hip-hop elements and collaborating with such youngsters as alt-rock’s Jon Spencer and Beck’s sideman DJ Swamp. Burnside travels from the hill country to the L.A. scene to growl and glower for the rock generation.
