Don’t Forget SAG

Share

In all of the hand wringing over who will--or should--win the Oscars (Letters, Jan. 14), everyone seems to have overlooked the most obvious indicator: the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Only performing members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences select the winning actors. These voters are also members of SAG; they are actors voting for actors. They are much more likely to reflect the judgments of the union than are the members of the various writers’ and critics’ associations.

How about giving the 95,000 eligible SAG voters the respect you give the 80-something foreign press writers who pick the Golden Globe winners?
