Local Man Suspected in Woman’s Slaying
A 25-year-old Palmdale man is being held without bail on suspicion of killing a homeless woman whose body was found by a jogger last week, authorities said Saturday.
Richard Daniel Estrada was booked Friday on charges of murder and felony parole violation, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Darren Harris said.
He is suspected in the killing of Carol Stacy Evjen, 49, a homeless woman who frequented the Palmdale area.
Evjen’s body was found the morning of Jan. 21 on Old Harold Road near Desert Oak Drive.
Investigators said she probably died the previous night. Coroner’s officials listed the cause of death as “multiple traumatic injuries.”
Estrada is being held at the sheriff’s Lancaster station.
