From Staff and Wire Reports

The Mighty Ducks, who are trying to get tougher, acquired enforcer Denny Lambert from Atlanta for future considerations Monday.

Lambert, 31, had one goal and 215 penalty minutes in 67 games last season. He has averaged 225 penalty minutes during the last five seasons with Ottawa, Nashville and Atlanta. He played 13 games for the Ducks in 1994-95 and 33 in 1995-96.

Lambert made $525,000 last season.

The Ducks also severed ties with center Antti Aalto and defenseman Pascal Trepanier. Neither were given qualifying offers, making them unrestricted free agents.

Aalto played 12 games for the Ducks last season, but fell out of favor and was demoted to Cincinnati, the team’s minor league affiliate. He was not recalled even though the Ducks had a rash of injuries.

Trepanier had six goals and 10 points last season, but also was mistake prone.
