“Contact,” the 2000 Tony Award-winner for best musical, consists of three stories about people searching for emotional connections. Conceived by Susan Stroman, who directs and choreographs, and writer John Weidman, the show is told through dance and dialogue and set to an eclectic soundscape, with works ranging from Tchaikovsky and Bizet to Van Morrison and the Squirrel Nut Zippers. It continues through the summer at the Ahmanson Theatre.

American soprano Alessandra Marc sings the title role when John Mauceri and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra give a concert performance of Verdi’s “Aida,” honoring the 100th anniversary of the composer’s death. Catherine Keen, Richard Margison, Donnie Ray Albert, Philip Skinner and the Pacific Chorale are Marc’s associates in this performance at Hollywood Bowl.

It doesn’t get much better than Emmylou Harris, unless it’s Emmylou Harris performing material from one of her best-ever albums, the self-written “Red Dirt Girl,” with singer-songwriter Joe Henry as opening act.

Violinist Elizabeth Blumenstock is soloist in “The Four Seasons” when Musica Angelica plays a Vivaldi program at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre, the ensemble’s first appearance at the outdoor showplace. Also featured is Musica Angelica’s founder-director, Michael Eagen, who will be soloist in Vivaldi’s Lute Concerto in D, RV 93.
