Less-than-perfect holiday weather meant fewer problems on Ventura County roadways Wednesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officer Dave Webb said cloudy skies, humid temperatures and the holiday falling midweek combined to keep freeways open all day.
“It was unexpectedly light traffic flow,” Webb said. “Overall it was a pretty good Fourth of July. It was really quiet.”
Officers responded to 12 minor freeway collisions and arrested seven motorists for driving under the influence, Webb said.
