From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A state judge granted a request from Gov. Gray Davis for a 60-day cooling-off period between Bay Area Rapid Transit and two labor unions representing employees of the commuter train.

The order forbids a strike and should keep BART commuter trains running until at least Sept. 4.

BART employees have threatened to walk out in a contact dispute over pay and benefits.
