Driver Killed When Car Crashes Into Utility Pole
A young woman was killed Sunday afternoon after apparently losing control of her car and slamming into a utility pole in an area south of Oxnard, authorities said.
The victim, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, was pronounced dead at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard after the 3:40 p.m. crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Investigators found no skids marks at the scene.
The woman, who was traveling alone, was driving east on Hueneme Road in her 1988 Volkswagen Cabriolet convertible when she drifted across the westbound lanes and slammed into the pole at Casper Road, the CHP reported.
