Wynalda Helps Fire Win, 2-1

Eric Wynalda scored the game-winning goal in overtime off an assist from Hristo Stoitchkov, who also scored the tying goal on a penalty kick in the 77th minute, as the Chicago Fire beat the Dallas Burn, 2-1, Saturday in front of 20,357 at Chicago.

Wynalda headed a pass from Stoitchkov past Dallas goalkeeper Matt Jordan in the 99th minute as the Fire (11-4-3) earned its first overtime victory.

Dallas’ Ariel Graziani scored in the 11th minute.

In other MLS games:

New England 1, Miami 1--New England goalkeeper Jeff Causey made a diving save on Alex Pineda Chacon’s point-blank header in the final minute of overtime to preserve the tie in front of 6,123 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Colorado 2, Tampa Bay 1--Paul Bravo scored two goals in the first 20 minutes to lead the Rapids in front of 9,425 at Tampa, Fla. Bravo became the ninth MLS player to score 50 goals.

New York-New Jersey 2, D.C. United 1--D.C United’s Carey Talley scored into his own goal in the 86th minute to give the MetroStars (9-7-3) the win in front of 25,576 at East Rutherford, N.J.

Columbus 2, San Jose 1--John Wilmar Perez had the game-winning goal and an assist and Tom Presthus made nine saves as the Crew won in front of 20,273 at Columbus, Ohio. Jeff Agoos scored for San Jose (10-4-5).

In a WUSA game:

Carolina 2, Boston 1--Meredith Florance scored an unassisted goal in the 79th minute for the Courage in front of 7,122 in Boston.
