NFL Fans’ Lament: Just the Facts, Man
I truly hope the July 19 column regarding the opening of NFL training camps is not an indication of how Mike Penner will cover the NFL beat this season. It was bad enough that football fans had to deal with four years of T.J. Simers. Did we really need 70 inches of sarcastic comments on all 31 teams?
Times readers do not need bootlicking columns or hero-worshiping feature stories about perfect pro football stars. But we do deserve a straightforward presentation of facts and information.

According to this column, all 31 NFL teams are terrible and every player and coach is untalented and/or incompetent. Is there any way you can get somebody who doesn’t despise the NFL to cover the league from now on?
