Bystanders Save Girl, 11, From Pool Bottom
Four bystanders pulled an unconscious 11-year-old girl from an apartment pool Saturday and revived her before paramedics arrived.
Patricia Jimenez was taken to Irvine Regional Hospital and Medical Center, where she recovered to the point of sitting and talking, said Capt. Kirk Summers of the Orange County Fire Authority.
Patricia, who cannot swim, lives in the complex on Monroe in Irvine.
She was spotted floating near the bottom of the deep end and pulled out by Marleen Basham about 3:52 p.m.
Kimberly Cirnellow gave the victim mouth-to-mouth resuscitation while Kristin Rosales did chest compressions. Lavonda Martinez, a nurse, also helped.
By the time the paramedics arrived, Patricia was coughing and breathing, Summers said.
Summers stressed that even when many people are around a pool, parents must watch their children.
