Lampley Is Back on Feet
Jim Lampley, who suffered a dislocated right hip about an hour before he was supposed to announce Saturday night’s Roy Jones Jr.-Julio Gonzalez pay-per-view telecast, said Sunday he was feeling fine.
“Just a little soreness and residual pain,” Lampley said from his Beverly Hills hotel. “I’m up and walking around.”
Lampley said he will go home to Rancho Santa Fe today and plans to call an HBO “Boxing After Dark” show featuring Wladimir Klischko vs. Charles Shufford in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Lampley said he was initially in a lot of pain and was taken from Staples Center to California Hospital, where the hip was put back in place. He had hip-replacement surgery in June 2000 and had it redone last month.
