Former Sheriff’s Worker Admits Embezzlement
A former civilian worker at the Sheriff’s Department Century station pleaded guilty Monday to embezzling $6,300 from a fund set up for a disabled deputy.
Imelda Zambrano, 29, of South Gate was sentenced to three years probation and 200 hours of community service and ordered to pay $6,300 in restitution to the relief fund, said Jane Robison of the district attorney’s office.
Zambrano was accused of depositing funds she solicited from businesses for the deputy into her personal checking account and spending the money.
