“The Worlds of Peter Sellers,” a summer weekend series of films featuring the offbeat character actor who became an offbeat movie star, begins Saturday morning with “The Smallest Show on Earth” at the Laemmle’s Sunset 5. Sellers gained early popularity on the British comedy series “The Goon Show” before establishing himself in films through his work with Stanley Kubrick and his long-running stint as Inspector Clouseau in the “Pink Panther” series. The life of silent film star Buster Keaton will be celebrated at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County with screenings of his 1920s films “Cameraman” and “One Week.” Silent film specialist Jeffrey Vance--the author of the new book “Buster Keaton Remembered”--will be on hand to discuss the life of the renowned comedic film star. Attendees will also get a special preview of newly acquired photographs and an original costume once worn by Keaton. The West Coast premiere of Philip Glass’ Concerto Fantasy for Two Timpanists and Orchestra dominates the final Pasadena Symphony concert of the season. Music Director Jorge Mester also leads Lutoslawski’s Concerto for Orchestra and the “Variaciones Concertantes” by Ginastera.
