Free Concert

Singer-songwriter Christopher Cross will give a free concert Sunday in Woodland Hills. Cross’ 1980 debut album sold more than one million copies and yielded a Top Five single, “Ride Like the Wind.” The album also earned Cross five Grammys including ones for best record, best album and best song. Later, Cross had another best seller with “Arthur’s Theme” from the film starring Dudley Moore and Liza Minelli. “Arthur’s Theme,” co-written by Cross, Peter Allen, Burt Bacharach and Carole Bayer Sager, won the 1981 Oscar for best original song.

Season Finale

The San Fernando Valley Symphony Orchestra concludes its current season with a concert Saturday evening in Woodland Hills. Musical director James Domine will lead the ensemble in a program that includes pieces by Mozart and Brahms.

Life Walk

The second Glendale Memorial Hospital 5K Life Walk is scheduled Sunday in downtown Glendale. It will be followed by a festival, barbecue and a concert by musicians/singers Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, the twin sons of rock legend Rick Nelson. Fees for the Life Walk also include admission to the festival and barbecue. The Nelsons’ concert will include a tribute to the music of their father.

The fifth annual Smoky Hollow Carvers Show is scheduled Saturday and Sunday in Glendale. More than 60 carvers and artisans, including sculptor William Churchill, will display their works.
