Man Charged With Vandalizing 60 Trees
A North Hollywood man was charged with five counts of vandalism Friday for allegedly destroying more than 60 trees planted in a neighborhood improvement project in Valley Glen, said Richard Schmidt, a lawyer with the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office.
Onni John Laine, 41, faces up to 2 1/2 years in prison, Schmidt said.
Laine allegedly told officers with the Los Angeles Police Department that he cut the trees on Victory Boulevard in retaliation for traffic tickets he had received.
A resident allegedly saw Laine cutting three trees May 11.
