Man Dies After Car Veers Off Freeway
A 78-year-old Covina man died Saturday morning after his car veered off the San Diego Freeway in Costa Mesa and struck a pole, authorities said.
The man, whose name was not immediately released, was discovered about 4:30 a.m. in his Honda, which crashed as it headed southbound just south of the Bear Street overpass.
He was rushed to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he was pronounced dead at 9 a.m., said Supervising Deputy Coroner Joseph Luckey.
Luckey said authorities are unsure how the man lost control of his car and have been unable to find anyone who saw the crash.
