In Division IV:

La Jolla The Bishop’s 74, Calvary Chapel 50--The Eagles trailed by six at halftime, but The Bishop’s broke open the close game with a third-quarter run.

After falling behind, 17-8, after one quarter, Calvary Chapel scored 18 second-quarter points, pulling to 32-26 at intermission. The Eagles stayed close in the first few minutes of the second half before The Bishop’s put them away with a 19-12 run.

Calvary Chapel was only 14 for 23 from the free-throw line.

Richael Werdel led Calvary Chapel (21-10) with 16 points and eight rebounds. Lindsey Richelli added seven points and eight rebounds and Ashley Nelson had four assists and five rebounds.

Mallory Nguyen scored 22 points for The Bishop’s (22-6). Her sister Brianna Nguyen had 14.

In Division V:

La Jolla Country Day 82, Brethren Christian 46--The Warriors were outplayed from the outset by quicker, deeper Country Day.

Trailing by eight after one quarter, Brethren Christian was down, 40-18, at intermission and trailed, 61-32, after three quarters.

Candice Wiggins scored 29 points and June Brubaker had 18 for Country Day (26-5), which placed four players in double figures.

Heather Stowart led the Warriors with 16 points, while Jesiree Dizon added nine for Brethren Christian (21-11).

In a Division I boys’ game:

Corona Centennial 89, Westchester 86--Corona Centennial outscored Westchester, 18-8, down the stretch to force overtime, and hit 25 of 35 free throws for the game to pull off an upset of the No. 2 seeded team.
