* Powwow--The fifth annual Native American Honoring Our Youth Intertribal Powwow will be held March 17 at Hawks Grove, Gallatin Place and Gonzales Road, Oxnard. The event will begin at 10 a.m. with storytelling by local Chumash elder Alan Salazar and others. More than 30 Native American tribes will perform dances, drumming and music, noon-7 p.m. Plus: vendors, games and food. Featured performer: Elk Whistle. $2 general; free for children 6 and younger. * Nature--Ojai herbalist Lanny Kaufer will offer another season of herb walks in the Ojai Valley area. The first of three installments will be held March 17 at the Center for Earth Concerns in Santa Ana Canyon. The casual three-hour walk will be held 9 a.m.-noon. Participants get a hands-on education about edible and medicinal plant identification, gathering and storing techniques, herbal lore and more. $10 general; $8 senior citizens and students; children 11 and younger may attend free with an adult. * Animals--The Exotic Animal Training and Management Teaching Zoo program at Moorpark College will present its annual “Spring Spectacular” fund-raiser. The event offers a behind-the-scenes look at the many animals housed at the zoo, plus performances by animals. Dates: March 17-18, 24-25, 31 and April 1.
