Tennessee Man Fatally Shot From Vehicle

A 27-year-old Tennessee man received a fatal gunshot wound to the head in a vehicle-to-vehicle shooting in South Los Angeles shortly before midnight Friday.

Darthaynan Salone was sitting in the back of a Lincoln Navigator in a parking lot at 5325 S. Broadway when a pickup truck pulled up next to the vehicle and someone in the pickup fired several rounds, Los Angeles Police Officer Jason Lee said. One of those rounds, Lee said, struck Salone in the head.

The killer fled, Lee said. Salone’s brother, who was driving the Lincoln, drove to Alameda and Commercial streets, where he sought medical attention for Salone from an LAPD patrol car, Lee said.

Salone and two of his brothers who were in the Lincoln had been in the area for about an hour before the shooting, police said.

Lee said no motive for the shooting had been determined.
