Deadly School Mishap

Re “Forced Child Labor Turns Deadly in China’s Needy School System,” March 9: I have long appreciated each perspective on life and events in China as described by reporters Henry Chu and Ching-Ching Ni, but the tale of individual greed, state corruption and its deadly consequence in Fanglin--worsened by the spurious apology by the central government--was at the same time bone-chilling and infuriating. Dare the world hope that the hearts of the Chinese leaders can be changed or that the Chinese government will ever truly act in the people’s best interest?
