2 Road Accidents Kill at Least 24
At least 24 people were killed today in two predawn road accidents in the Philippines, witnesses and officials said.
At least 14 people were killed when a tanker truck plowed into vehicles and pedestrians in the Paranaque district of Manila, the capital. Witnesses said one of the vehicle’s tires burst before the crash. Many of the victims burned to death.
In Bocaue, a suburb of Manila, a trailer truck crossed lanes on an expressway and collided with a bus, police said. Ten bus passengers died and several were injured.
